FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
University Park, MD – 03/07/2003. http://www.capitolwebservices.com/press.html">CWS Press, the new publishing division of Capitol Web Services, proudly announces the inauguration of our new line of Digitally Bound Works (DBW) on CD-ROM. These electronic books will be a revolution in electronic publishing. The first book in this new line is Make It Or Break It; Stained Glass For Beginners by Phillip C. McKee, III. This book was chosen because it most fully takes advantage of the benefits of this new format.
Digitally Bound Works are created using digital page authoring technology that allows an electronic book to retain the look and feel of a traditional printed work (An example is available for download at http://www.capitolwebservices.com/demo.exe">http://www.capitolwebservices.com/demo.exe). These books open and flip pages like a printed book, but are computer files that are searchable, printable, and can link to external documents, web sites and even e-mail. As an added advantage, the DBWs are fully encapsulated executable files allowing them to be read without the use of any reader software. There is no need for a reader to download any additional software to use the DBWs. They simply open the CD-ROM and begin reading. DBWs are also platform independent. They are native to PCs running any version of Windows (Win95 or higher) but can also be viewed on a Mac running VirtualPC.
Make It Or Break It was the perfect title for the launch of this line. With the high number of detailed color illustrations and photographs it would have been impossible to publish in print form and still retain a reasonable retail price. In addition, the author wished to include far more stained glass patterns than had ever been included in an instructional work. Most stained glass books have just ten or fifteen patters. By using CD-ROM technology, Make It Or Break It not only has over 340 patterns but is also contains a free trial version of GlassEye2000, the leading stained glass computer aided design program. GlassEye2000 is produced by Dragonfly Software and is included in this package with permission.
The author, Phillip McKee, is an award-winning stained glass artist & instructor who was once an Arlington County, VA, Firefighter/EMT. He was disabled by injuries suffered battling the blaze at the Pentagon on 9-11 and now focuses on his http://www.mckeestainedglass.com">stained glass and other business ventures.
